The HKSAR Government launched the Elderly Healthcare Voucher Scheme at the HKU-SZ Hospital on October 6, 2015, to enable Hong Kong elders residing in Shenzhen, the Pearl River Delta area and Hong Kong to access healthcare services at the Hospital. Eligible Hong Kong elders can use vouchers to pay for outpatient services provided by the Hospital’s designated clinics or departments. As the first pilot hospital for the Scheme, the HKU-SZ Hospital is a trailblazer in cross-border healthcare. Since the Scheme was implemented smoothly, and cross-border elderly patients were highly satisfied with the services, the Department of Health of HKSAR announced to regularize the Pilot Scheme on June 6, 2019.
